We raise Narragansett turkeys. We hatch a lot of our own turkey eggs, just like we do with our geese and ducks and like them we invest in some hatching eggs from outside sources, about every second year, so we can get some fresh blood into our flock. Like our geese our turkeys has a pen easy to move pen so they can forage in different places around the farm.

The Narragansett Turkey can be found on the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy list on the threatened list.
The Narragansett Turkey: is a mix between a European turkey and the Eastern Wild Turkey. The breeding of them started back in the 1700's in New England, where it was an important breed. The breed was recognized by the American Poultry Association in 1874. They have plumage with black, gray, tan, and white feathers. It is prized for its excellent temperament and a calm disposition. The Narragansett Turkey also has great maternal abilities, which to us is very important. They mature early, are good egg producers, and have excellent quality meat. Another thing we like is the fact that they are not proned to wander too far from home.
